How much do group classes cost? Prices are $24 for live, in-person classes | $15 for live, online classes | $13 for live, online classes with a 5-class pass ($65) | $12.50 for live, online classes with a 10-class pass ($125). If you have been adversely affected by COVID 19, live, online classes are 50% off the drop-in price (or $7.50), no questions asked. | More information on pricing

Do I need to pre-register? We prefer that you pre-register for all classes so that we can manage our business and plan our schedules accordingly. That said, for live, in-person classes, absolutely. Due to social distance restrictions, we limit class sizes for our outdoor classes. For live, online classes, we ask that you pre-register at least 12 hours in advance, though you can register as close to 15 minutes before class begins.

How do I pay? We accept major credit cards via Stripe and also accept payments via PayPal. If you need to make other arrangements, please contact us.

How long are classes? All classes are currently 60 minutes in length. Classes open 10 minutes early and stay open for approximately 10 minutes afterwards to answer any questions.

How do I access the online classes, and what should I expect? Live, online group classes are currently live-streamed via Zoom, which is free for students to use. (If you need to download the Zoom app, you may do so here.) You’ll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link upon initial registration as well as a reminder email within 24 hours of class time. If you register within 24 hours, you’ll receive an email instantly with the Zoom link.

You may choose to keep your video on, or you may turn it off. If you keep it on, we’ll have a better chance of seeing you and offering real-time feedback, just as if in an in-person studio setting. It is helpful to be able to see the full length of your mat, preferably from the long-edge side, with your video camera roughly 6 to 8 feet away so that your entire body is in the frame. You may also choose to adjust the location of your camera throughout the practice if 6 to 8 feet is not possible.

Students will be muted during the class itself.

What are the other students like? We are extremely diverse! While many of us live in the Washington, D.C. area, some of us also live in places like Portland, OR, New York, NY and even Israel. Our youngest students are in their 20s, our oldest in their 70s. We have students of all races, sexual orientations and gender identities.

I just started my yoga journey. Can I take classes with Move. Breathe. Be.? Yes! You’re in the right place! Consider taking our weekly Level 1 class, visiting our Resources section of the website for free instructional videos and signing up for the Foundations of Yoga workshop, a six-week progressive journey on the fundamentals of yoga. Or check out the Move. Breathe. Be. YouTube channel for free content.

What props might I need for class? We would recommend at the bare minimum that you invest in a yoga mat. Ideally, we would recommend that as your practice grows, so, too, do your props. We recommend having one to three (1-3) blankets, one to two (1-2) blocks, one (1) belt, etc.—bonus if you have a chair and/or access to a wall! | More information on yoga props

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy? Live, online classes are for the date and time specified on the schedule. You must cancel or reschedule no later than 12 hours in advance. To change your class reservation, search your email inbox for your class confirmation email and click Change/Cancel Appointment at the bottom.

My schedule changed. What do I do? No worries! Just as we learn throughout movement practice about the importance of space and flexibility in our bodies, so, too, do we need to learn about the importance of it in our lives, too. You can reschedule a class up to 12 hours in advance (see above), or, better yet, stay registered, and you’ll receive a link to the class recording afterwards, valid for seven days post-class.

I can get free yoga on YouTube and via other sources. Why should I pay? Move. Breathe. Be. is a woman-run, independent small business based along the H Street Corridor in the heart of Washington, D.C. Small businesses are the lifeblood of local communities and from this unique position also build community.

According to Indeed.com, the average yoga teacher makes $44.69 per class in Washington, D.C. This includes the class itself (often 60-90 minutes in length), the pre- and post-time the teacher is available for welcomes and Q&A (15 minutes each), the commute time to and from the studio (roughly 30 minutes each way) and the time to prepare for class (approximately 30-45 minutes). At a minimum, this is roughly three hours per class, averaging $15 per hour. Occasionally, teachers have “triggers” (ie, an extra $10 per class for 21 or more students), but this is not guaranteed.

Move. Breathe. Be. aims to provide high-quality products and services while also supporting its staff, teachers and content providers with a liveable wage.
